Q: MovieMaker.exe can't start because UXCore.dll is missing from your computer

Windows 7 Home Premium.  Have uninstalled and installed, but does not fix.


Have run SFC and nothing shows as a problem.


I see many people with the same issue, but no answers for over a month.


-          Are you using Windows Live Movie Maker?

Thank you for inquiring us the troubleshooting steps that you took. For troubleshooting the issue we would like you to try to do a clean installation of Windows Essentials on your computer. This may differ from the installation process that you took and may solve the issue:


1. To update your Windows, please refer to this link.

2. To uninstall your Windows Essentials, you can go to this link.

3. Delete the following files for a clean installation:

for 32 bit

C:\Program Files\Windows Live

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows Live

for 64 bit

C:\Program Files(x86)\Windows Live

C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Windows Live

4. Disable third party firewall (enable after installation is done).

5. Reset browser to factory settings.

6. Reinstall Windows Essentials:

Windows Essentials 2012 (for Windows 7 and Windows 8)

Windows Essentials 2011 (for Windows Vista and Windows 7)


Note: Please read the system requirements before installing Windows Essentials 2012.
