Contacts Missing in Windows Live Mail

I have lost my contacts in Windows Live Mail.  Not only are the contacts missing, but the normal screen to view and manage contacts is not visible when I click on Contacts in the lower left corner of the Live Mail program screen.  This happened after the 4/4/2012 Windows Live Essentials Update occurred.  I have tried to uninstall and reinstall Windows Live Mail but the problem remains.   How can I resolve this issue?

The same thing happened to me. Does it not seem absurd that 16 people have this same problem and MS has not deigned to address it.

There is a connotation of safety when one downloads a MS update. Please address this issue. Please advise.

An uninstall/reinstall of live mail did the trick for me. I also ran ccleaner on the registry before re-installation, which may be unnecessary, but i was clutching at straws by then!

An uninstall/reinstall of live mail (in reaction to other issues with Live Mail) is what wiped out my contacts.  I know they're still somewhere on my hard drive, just don't know how to pull them up into live mail,

Had trouble with email attachments not downloading, so went to the Microsoft help chat Tech Josephine.

Tech Josephine accessed my computer remotely at 21:10 MDT on 12Aug13, and fixed the attachment download issue.   Now caused much bigger problem in that all my email contacts are gone, and the same Microsoft help folks want $80 to fix the problem.

Very frustrating.

Hello TamimAnsary,

Thank you for your post. Sorry to hear that your contacts has been lost after you reinstall Windows Live Mail. Let me assist you with that. You can check your contacts via web and reconfigure your account in Windows Live Mail.

If your contacts are available only in Windows Live Mail, there's no way for us to recover them. To prevent this from happening again, back up your files (email message, calendar and contacts). See How do I import and export email, contacts, and calendars with Windows Live Mail?

If you have further questions, please let us know.

Regards.
