Hi Sunnywong01,

Please provide us the following info for further investigation:

- Does the issue happen to a particular recipient only?

- Try sending test messages to your recipients at different times of the day to eliminate the possibility of Internet traffic affecting delivery of your messages. Did you encounter the same problem?

Thanks,

Windows Live Monico J.

- No, it didn't happen to a particular recipient. I just did a simple test and the result is listed in the below:
Sender                                        Recipient                    Result
*** Email address is removed for privacy ***        *** Email address is removed for privacy ***    Email not received
*** Email address is removed for privacy ***    *** Email address is removed for privacy ***    Email received

- I experienced this issue in different times. I have received 14 Delivery Status Notification (Failure) / (Delay) since 2nd Mar when sending emails from *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. I'll post all of these messages in another post because the system has max input length of 3000 characters.

Hi Sunnywong01,

For investigation purposes, I need you to post a copy of the Delivery Status Notification Failure message that you received with its full headers exposed so that we can check it out. A complete bounce message includes the following: Final-Recipient, Action, Status and Diagnostic-Code.

To do this, please refer to these steps:

1. Right click on the message (near the subject part within the message list.)
2. Choose “View message source.”
3. You will be seeing a new window or tab containing the headers of that message and its content.

We will be unable to provide our personal email addresses for troubleshooting.

Thanks,

I think the bounce back message you refer to should be the below message. It's attached as a text file in the "Delivery Status Notification" message. I posted several recent bounce back messages for your reference.

Hi Sunnywong01,

Mail delivery delays are usually caused by one of the following issues:

  • The mail servers may be undergoing maintenance, or there may be a service outage.
The specific email message is very large, or the message contains one or more large attachments. Incoming email is subject to spam filter protection, which might generate delivery delays.

There are other causes of mail delays. However, they are outside the control of either the Windows Live Hotmail user or the Windows Live Hotmail network. For example, high traffic volumes during peak usage or issues that originate from a third-party ISP can create latency that Windows Live Hotmail agents cannot resolve. Such issues are outside the control of Windows Live Hotmail.

Kindly consider the following:

  • Contact the recipient's ISP to determine whether that ISP is experiencing a service outage or performing maintenance on the email system.
Because large attachments or multiple attachments to messages may significantly delay delivery time, use compression software to compress large or multiple attachments. In addition, send fewer attachments in each message. Send a test message to yourself. This method is a good way to ensure that you can send messages because a message that you send must travel to a main server, be sorted, and then return to your inbox. If you send a message that is delayed, check the recipient's email address. If you have a message from that recipient, reply to that message to make sure that you have the correct email address for the recipient.

If you are the intended recipient of an email message that is delayed, send a message to the sender and ask the sender to reply to your message to make sure that the email address is correct. Tell the sender to add your email address to the sender's contacts list.

Thank you.

Windows Live Leonard C.
