Hi cyberbaffled,

From my understanding you have an email account from 1and1.

Are you trying to set up the said account via Windows Live Mail? If so, are you having issue in this area? If so, did you happen to receive any error message? If you do, then please  provide us the exact error message that you receive the next time you post back.

If not, what step did you take that led you to encounter the "won't authenticate" issue?  What made you said so?

Thanks!

I am also having this problem. When I try to send emails through 1and1.com, whether it is through my regular email address or my 1and1.com, it is rejected with the error listed below.  I've looked everywhere trying to find a solution for this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

554 5.7.1 Suspicious content rejected

Thank you,
Jill

Sorry, I forgot to mention I am having this problem whether through Outlook 2010 or Windows Live.  This also seems to be to have happened around the time I started using  Microsoft Security Essentials

Thanks again,
Jill

The solution is to remove the suspicious content from the message you're trying to send. This might be something as apparently innocuous as a signature, which seems to upset many mail servers' spam filters.

Can you successfully send a plain text message?

There is nothing in all of these emails. That's what I don't understand.  Some of them only had a sentence in them and there were never any attachments.  I've tried the plain text and it comes back the same way.
