Email on Windows Live Mail 2012 Update

*Original Title: Live Mail 2012

Hi Has anyone had an email saying that windows live mail 2012 here it is

Dear user,
In a few weeks, we will be making some changes to our email services that might impact your @outlook.com, @hotmail, @live or @msn email account. These changes will prevent your email from being delivered to the Windows Live Mail 2012 application that you use.
In order to continue using Windows Live Mail 2012 to send and receive email for your account, you need to install the latest update published here.
If you use Windows Live Mail 2012 on Windows 8, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10, we recommend that you switch to the built-in Mail app in Windows to stay connected and get the latest feature updates on Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
Windows Live Essentials 2009 and 2011 are not supported any more, and you will need to update to Windows 8/8.1 or Windows 10 and use the Mail app, or use www.outlook.com. To learn more about the Mail app, please click here.
We also recommend all Windows Live Mail users on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 to upgrade to Windows 10 and use the built-in Mail application to stay connected and get the latest feature updates.
We suggest saving this email so you can refer to it later.
Thank you for your understanding and continued use.
Yours sincerely,
The Outlook team

After a reboot (well, I shut down my pc last night and started it this morning) Live Mail is working as intended again.

So maybe a restart was needed to get it running after the update.

Weird thing is, the update file is from september, so why send an email about it in december, instead of pushing the update throuw Windows update.

Then there's the file name "d-Mail.msp" which looks odd too, but in fact is a file to update WLM.

Hopefully someone from Microsoft can shed some light on the situation.

The Windows Live Mail update should only be installed after your outlook.com account is update to Outlook Mail (Preview).

If the Dear user email had arrived in September, people would have forgotten about it by now.

Maybe, getting the email means that your account will be soon.

Thanks for the information.

Maybe the mail should have been a bit more explaining.

It does say that the update of WLM is needed because of an update that is coming soon, but it doesn't say that you don't need to update WLM until the other update is done.

But hey, in the end all is working fine, so no harm done.

Thanks again.

Likewise ... got the email, applied the fix to WLM 2012 as suggested, and cannot now synch with Hotmail account.

Rebooting did not help.

From Win7 w/SP1 64bit:

I updated Windows Live Mail 2012 using the first d-mail.msp - could not download anything: @MSN.com, Hotmail.com or Charter.net - did a system restore - things worked ok.

Downloaded d-mail.msp on 19 Dec and tried again - after system reboot could not get mail at my MSN account, others worked ok.

Verified mail was working as expected by booting into XP Pro x64 w/SP2 and received mail using Outlook Express.

Did another system restore - all mail accounts now operational.

Would ne nice if someone fixed this problem.

Recent Tuesday update installed KB3093594 Windows Live Essentials Mail and I still had the same problem as mentioned earlier - again had to do a system restore to get email to work again for my @MSN account.
