Unable to receive messages with pop3.xtra.co.nz, error 0x800CCC0F

I am receiving this error message for 1 of my email accounts, all others are working fine.

Unable to send or receive messages for the Matt NZ account. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.

Server: 'pop3.xtra.co.nz'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F
Protocol: POP3
Port: 995
Secure(SSL): Yes

   What can I do to fix this error, I am using windows 10 pro version 1809.

Are you able to send with this account? Let's first check that the account settings are as they should be as given on this page: https://www.spark.co.nz/help/get-more/xtra/xtra-mail-setup/ 

Right-click on the account name in the folder pane and select Properties

  • On the Servers tab 
     
    • Ensure that the server name for incoming mail (POP3) is pop3.xtra.co.nz 
       
    • Ensure that the server name for outgoing mail (SMTP) is send.xtra.co.nz 
       
    • Ensure that the Email username is your full email address
       
    • Ensure that Log on using clear text authentication is selected
       
    • Ensure that My server requires authentication is selected
       
  • On the Advanced tab 
     
    • Ensure that This server requires a secure connection (SSL) is selected for both incoming and outgoing mail.
       
    • Ensure that the server port for outgoing mail is 465 
       
    • Ensure that the server port for incoming mail is 995 
       
  • Click Apply and OK
     

Remove any unsent messages from the outbox (below the account folders in the folder pane), then compose a new test message with a unique subject and send it to yourself. Post any new error message in your reply.
