Location of Pictures.pd6 ??

Hello there was a post bellow which I read in regards to resetting/undoing the Don't Show Again option in Windows Live Photo Gallery as I accidently marked a batch of photos that should have been confirmed.  I just called the help desk and they said I should post the question as we where unable to find this location on my computer (Windows 7).  Additionally, she was unable to say what information would be affected (would all people tags be erased?  Anything else?).  Could you please help me find the location on my computer?  Also, could you tell me if there is an updated solution to undoing a "don't show again' suggestion.  Thank you

Hi DarrenC0x,

The information for this feature is saved in this location:

C:\Users\<USER LOGIN>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Photo Gallery

You will see a file named Pictures.pd6. Close Photo Gallery first then delete the Pictures.pd6 file. Please take note that this also contains data for the photos that are saved on Photo Gallery. Other data that is embedded directly on the photos won't be removed.

Please let us know if this would work on your end.

Thanks!

==============================================
Just rename Pictures.pd6 to Pictures.OLD. This may cause
you to lose some tags and metadata that were not written back
to the photo files.

The next time Photo Gallery is launched...a new Pictures.pd6
file will be created and the Gallery will be as it was the first time
you opened it.

The path to the file (in Windows 7) is :

Windows\Users\%Username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\
Windows Live Photo Gallery\Pictures.pd6

This is a Hidden file so you may need to change the following
setting before you can find it:

Try the following steps to 'Show Hidden Files' in Windows 7:

Go to.....Start button / Control Panel / Appearance
and Personalization / Folder Options / View tab
Advanced settings / Show hidden files, folders, and
drives / OK

If you are unhappy with the result...delete the new Pictures.pd6
file and rename Pictures.OLD back to Pictures.pd6

Good luck...

No it doesn't.  C:\Users is fine but there isn't a \<USER LOGIN>

Also would you please define the ' this also contains data for photos that are saved on photo gallery' what does this mean?  Will I reset all people tags?  Other than tagging individuals I don't use tags.  Thank you

Hi Tlursen,

Thanks for posting back here. I managed to find another thread you created with a similar concern. I gave some troubleshooting steps similar to what you are finding on this thread. What I can suggest is to visit this thread for better assistance.

As for your query about the "\<USER LOGIN>", this is the username you are using to log in to your computer. The thread I posted above has the path that will directly go to the folder where you need to delete the files.

Regards,

Richard
