Scanning a file will often show allot of white background/ space where the picture was not,
If you Crop the file you will actually see where the perimeter of the scanned file is in relation to where the actual image is,
Sliding the walls closer to the image will act as a resize function and zooming in on the actual image and not the surface of the scanner.

Thank you for visiting us here in Microsoft Community. We are more than happy to assist you in enlarging your scanned photo. In addition to what Dissed have mentioned, we would like to know the exact steps you did from the start of scanning the photo, saving it and to the point of uploading it to Facebook.
Furthermore, you may try to open the scanned image to verify if it was really scanned normally. To do so, follow the steps provided belolw:
- Locate the scanned image through Windows Explorer.
- Right click on it, then select Open with, then select Windows Photo Viewer.
- Press CTRL + ALT 0 for its actual size.
