Default Home Folder Permissions

When I create a home folder for a use, the default permissions on the folder are 'Full Control' for the user.

How/where do I set it so that users only get 'Modify' permissions on their home folder? (if this is possible)

Thanks

Hello Estein9077,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

To assign a home folder to a domain user:

1.Open Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Users and Computers.

2.Find the user account.

3.In the Details pane, right-click the user account, and then click Properties.

4.In the Properties dialog box, click Profile.

5.Under the Home folder, type the folder information. To do this, follow these steps: To assign a home folder on a network server, click Connect, and then specify a drive letter. In the To box, type a path. This path can be any one of the following types: Network path, for example: \server\users\tester You can substitute username for the last subfolder in the path, for example: \server\users\username Note In these examples, server is the name of the file server housing the home folders, and users is the shared folder.

6.Click OK.

Q: How/where do I set it so that users only get 'Modify' permissions on their home folder? (if this is possible)
A: You can change the permission on the shared folder.

For example:

Thanks for the info. I know all of that.

What I want is for it not to give 'Full Control' to the user by default. I want it to give 'Modify' as the default.

Changing the permissions manually sucks when you have several hundred user accounts.

Thanks

Hello Estein9077,

Good day!

If you have more users, you can add these users into one group, then set the permissions by changing the group permissions on the shared folder.
