storage spaces cant remove the drive from pool

I have a storage spaces pool that has stopped allowing access, two older drives are no longer recognized, I have added two new 1 gb drives and try to remove the older drives. I get the message "Can't remove the drive from the pool" I have more than enough space and redundancy but storage spaces won't let me access files until these drives are removed. what can I do?

Hi Kozyra,

This issue may be due to any of the service that is still being used by the device. I would suggest you to turn off the RT Device completely and then try to disconnect and check if it helps. When you turn off the Device all the services will be turned off, and this will help you in this situation.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick response, perhaps I didn't make it clear, I am using windows 8.1 on my HP pc and storage spaces will not let me remove two drives. I am not using RT. Is ther a way to get storage spaces to force remove a drive?

Thanks,

Kurt
