Windows Xp F11-Print Scrn

When I try to capture screen-also active one using above key, nothing happens!!!Further, assuming that screen has been captured I open Paint to paste the same but I find whole Edit manue to be grayed out. I just can't go further. How do I activate Capture screen programme in XP- if it is there?
Thanks.

Hi N.S.Mistry,

Try Alt + Print Screen to capture just the active window and Print Screen to capture full screen to the clipboard.

The heart of the question is, why F11-Prnt Scen, alone or with Alt does not respond? When clicked screen is changed to full screen but it does not take screen shot. After clicking F11 I found Edit menu of Paint grayed-out and ,therefore, I could not select Paste option to proceed further.Could it be that, somehow, this programme might have been disabled on my computer? If so,how to enable it?
Thanks and regards,
N.S.Mistry

Are you by chance pressing F11 and holding it while also pressing Print Screen? Forget the F11 key a moment. If you just press Print Screen, are you then able to paste that into Paint?

As a test, I just pressed the F11 key and my browser window went full screen, no menus. I then pressed the Print Screen key. Then pressed F11 key to get out of full screen mode. Opened Paint, and was able to paste the Print Screen capture.

I have been using those keys for years with no problem.  Today, however, they don't work.  I apparently am not getting anything on the clipboard.

If you can't fix it with duct tape, you haven't used enough.
