Runtime Error 429 - ActiveX Component Can't Create Object

Hello,

We have a VB6 program being run on a machine in our office - all of which run Windows XP Professional. It has worked up until a few days ago however now we are getting the error:

Runtime Error 429 - ActiveX Component Can't Create Object

We had a problem with a VBA program recently that was due to a Microsoft security update (KB960715) and I wondered whether a similar problem could be causing this? Please let me know if you need any other details.

Many thanks,
Chris

Hello Chris Stammers,

Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Answers Forum.

If the problem was caused by a windows update, I would try to see if you can perform a system restore and go back to before the update was applied to your system.  Click on the KB article number and follow the KB steps.
KB 306084 - How to restore Windows XP to a previous state

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
