How do I fix Error number: 0x8024D007?

I have not been able to turn on automatic updates and I get the error codeError number: 0x8024D007 when trying to do it manually from microsoft update direct. Is there a patch?

What information to post in the Windows Update forum.

• Minimum information to post:

Version of Windows and Service pack level. (Windows XP Home, SP3; Vista Home Premium, SP1; Windows 7 Ultimate, etc...)

Also post if you are using 32bit or 64bit version of Windows.

If your version of Windows was upgraded from a previous version or if it came with (or was clean installed with) the version you are currently running.

Which update(s) are you trying to install? (KB Number)

What ərror are you getting while trying to install updates?


A couple other helpful pieces are:

What anti-virus application or security suite program you use, if it is up to date, and if there has ever been any other anti-virus program installed, was anything detected the last time the system was scanned with it ?

What browser (exact version) you are using.

What other antimalware products are installed and running?

Is a 3rd party firewall being used in place of the native Windows firewall ?

Is this "software firewall" the Windows Firewall or a third-party firewall? If the latter, what is the name of this application?

Other information to post:

Steps already taken to correct the issue and the results of the steps.

If the issue has ever happened before with other updates.

0x8024D007 WU_E_SETUP_REGISTRATION_FAILED is usually associated with incomplete downloads and/or permission issues, or missing files [0x80070002], or interference by secondary software [0x80070005].

When I try to update my Windows browser, I receive the following message:

 

The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options below might help you solve the problem.

 

The solutions I find are not helpful.

 

I'm using Norton as my anti-virus software. I'm using a Windows XP operating system.
