Question

Q: Can't get rid of Antivirus System Pro virus.

I recently must have accidently downloaded anitivirus system pro virus.  Yesterday I used spyware doctor to try to get rid of it but then another one would show up.  The two that kept showing up are Trojan download. Suurch and Trojan downloader. Agent.  Today spyware doctor won't even open I guess the virus has blocked it from working.  I have also tried to do system restore but it pops up an error saying "system restore has been turned off by group policy".  I can't even sign in in safe mode.  When trying to use the internet it goes to another site instead of going to the site I want, so I am using another computer.  I have tried everything I know how to do, but nothing works.  Please help!

Your system is infected with a rogue security program. It is called "rogue" because it pretends to be A Good Guy but is really Evil. Do not pay them!

Look for removal steps here Bleeping Computer removal how-to's - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum55.html
or here - Malwarebytes malware removal guides - http://tinyurl.com/5xrpft

Malwarebytes' Anti-malware (MBAM) or SuperAntiSpyware will often do the job. Both have free versions and you do not need to purchase these programs.

These may work for you and all may be well. However, in many cases the computer will also be infected with other trojans and protected by a rootkit. These machines are extremely difficult to clean. If your machine is one of these cases, either get guided help at one of the specialty forums listed at the link below OR take your machine to a local computer professional OR back up your data and do a clean install of Windows. It is your choice. I don't recommend using BigComputerStore/GeekSquad types of places.

Hi,

Can you take the harddisk out of the computer.

Put it in 2nd computer and install it as a slave if it is an IDE drive. ( By moving jumper pin at back of H/D. )

Then scan the harddisk with the other computers Antivirus and spyware programs.

My answer is based on the details given in your post. The more I get the better the answer.

No need to do that. The original poster should try scanning as suggested first. Why do more work if the simpler way solves the issue?
