Hi again

Well I am glad you got it up and running again. Since you ran fixmbr we can only believe you had a corrupt master boot record. This could've been from the virus you had but does not explain why you could not boot from CD.

But it seems to be working fine now. If you are unsure of your MBR and think there is still a virus lurking somewhere there is a detection program that can scan your MBR for any changes that might have occurred. The programs name is MBRCheck and you can get it here

You should be able to run it in Normal Windows or if your McAfee blocks it try in Safe Mode.

However I do believe that McAfee would've found a boot sector virus.

Did this solve your problem?

Sorry this didn't help.

Great! Thanks for marking this as the answer.
