Turning off Safe Mode - Windows XP

How can I turn off the safe mode on my computer (Winsows XP) ?  It was turned on accidently.  I've already tired to reset F8 and chose Normal startup - didn't work.  Also tried sytem restore and it wouldn't allow me to do it. Please help - Thank you - Wes

What do you mean "turn off"? Are you saying that your computer is stuck in Safe Mode and you can't get into Regular Mode? What do you mean "turned on accidentally"? Please clarify your situation so we can help you.

I don't think it is "stuck" I just don't know how to return to the normal operation or get out of safe mode.

One way it can get "stuck" in Safe Mode is via the "boot.ini" file.

After booting to Safe Mode, do
    Start -> Run -> "msconfig"
Then click on the "Boot.ini" tab and clear the checkbox in front of "/SAFEBOOT".
