Windows XP security service center (error 1060) and firewall (error 1075) have stopped working; dependencies not installed.

I have Windows XP Pro SP3 and the security service center and firewall have stopped working. I have been unable to restart them using various commands in the help articles. I continue to receive the error messages below. It appears there is a service or services I need to install that I am not aware of...

HOWEVER, when I click Start, click Network Connections: I have no icons to work with on the screen. See my other related post I have copied below:

"error Failed with error 0x80070424: The specified service does not exist as an installed sercies: " 

To restore the missing "Network Connections" service you may use the REG file here:

But what erased it is still a mystery. I'd run a thorough scan for viruses/malware in addition.
