The Domain Server is running Server 2008
The users laptop has been working for approximately 4 months

Hi there,
I had the same problem with a user's computer (Windows XP SP3 runing on a Server 2003 network), it wasn't letting anybody sign in with anydomain network accounts from Active Directory. I fixed it by logging in with the local Administrator account, and then disjoining/rejoining the computer to the domain. After that it allowed the domain accounts to sign in. Hope this helps!

Have you tried contacting your System Administrator regarding this? There could be Group Policy Objects set by the admin that's why this is happening.

This happens when the computer account has been disabled in Active Directory.

Go to Start>run and type regedit. Press enter.
Navigate to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Uninstall
Click Uninstall to highlight it. Look in the right pane for this DWORD
NoAddRemovePrograms
If you find it, Right Click on it and chose delete from the pop up menu.
If not Navigate to this key and look for the same entry. Remove it if you find it.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Uninstall
