Connot login to windows xp professional due to a unknown password how do I bypass it?

I recently bought a computer from someone and I can't login to the computer because I don't know the password. It is running windows xp professional and how can I bypass this?

If you just bought this from someone, why would he/she not give you the password?

Just wondering. Also it is not permitted in this site to post procedures on bypassing passwords.
