The video decoder has malfunctioned or is not installed.

it says my video decoder is not acceptable after installing a usb tuner and trying to view the live tv. ? what decoder do I use & is the video card I use ok with any decoder

Method 1

If you are using HP computer with Windows XP Media Center installed, you may follow this link & check if it helps.

Decoder Error: The video decoder has either malfunctioned or is not installed

Method 2

a) You may also download & run the Microsoft Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility .This utility will help you to determine if an MPEG-2 video decoder or, a DVD decoder is installed on your system and whether or not the decoder is compatible with Windows Media Player 10 and Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

b) Thereafter, you may download and install compatible video decoder and try to watch Live TV.
