Hi,

1.     Are you trying to record or burn using Windows Media Center?

2.     Do you receive any error message?

You may check if the issue persists using a different DVD.

You may run the fix it from the link.

Fix problems with CD or DVD drives that can’t read or write media

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/en-us

As a workaround, you may follow the steps and see if you’re able to perform the task.

.

  1. Insert a blank DVD.
  2. In the Media Center main menu, point to Tasks, and then click burn cd/dvd.
  3. Select DVD instead of Data DVD.

You may post your results to help you further on this issue
