Hi,

I believe you are the person who suggested the links, hoping to help me.

I finally found the Device Manager and went through the list of devices. It seems that the sound device (which is greyed out) is the culprit.

All the other devices read "functioning properly; including Teac and Media Controller.

I shall continue to probe for the solution (if it kills me). At least I am learning about the sounds portion of the computer.

Maybe you have a hardware issue with the sound card.

Might be worth a try to check with the support site of the
sound card manufacturer.
