Answer

Hi David,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Communities. From your problem description I understand that Logitech USB headphones do not work on Windows XP. Please correct me I have misunderstood.

David, I understand how frustrating it could be when things do not work as expected. Please follow the methods mentioned below and later update us on the status of the issue.

Method 1:

a. Plug the microphone in one of the USB port.

b. Click on "Start" button on the task bar and select "Control Panel."

c. Click "Speech, Sounds and Audio Devices" then click "Sounds and Audio Devices." This will open the sound dialog box.

d. Navigate to the "Audio" tab. Select the microphone that best describe yours from the "Default Device" dropdown menu in the "Sound Recording" section.

e. Click the "Volume" button in the "Sound Recording" section to open the "Recording Control" panel. Drag the sliders up and down to adjust the volume. If "Microphone" isn't visible, select "Properties" from the "Options" menu and check all the boxes then click "OK."

f. Click "Advanced Controls" within the "Options" menu and then click the "Advanced Controls" button beneath the microphone sound levels to open more options specific to your microphone.

Method 2: Let us try to uninstall and reinstall the USB controller

a. Click on Start, then click on Run

b. Type devmgmt.msc, and then click OK. Device Manager opens.

c. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.

Note: You might have to scroll down the list to find this item.

d. Right-click the first USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then click Uninstall.

e. Repeat step d for each USB controller that is listed under Universal Serial Bus controllers.

f. Restart the computer. After the computer starts, Windows will automatically scan for hardware changes and reinstall all the USB controllers that you uninstalled.

g. Check the USB device to see whether it is working.

If you still face the same issue then you may check for the updated USB device drivers using windows update.
