Windows Xp Sp3 System Restore Points Vanishing

Without warning all my System restore points have vanished.

I have checked all the obvious reasons (lack of disc space etc)

I can still set  a restore point manually but when I do it disappears at next boot and I am back to no restore points

Anyone in the community seen this behaviour before ?

Is there a known fix ?

I need my system restore to be working properly as over the years I have had to resort to using it on more than one occassion

Any help would be much appreciated

I just turned the "volume" down on my percent space for RPs to 200MB and it whacked all but the last RP.

Then (while SR was still open) I made a new RP and there were two in the calendar.  Then I made another and there were three...

Then I closed SR and started it again and only the last one (number 3) was still there and the other two had been whacked.

You did turn up your percent volume slider, right?  If not, you should at least try it.
