Question

Q: svchost ntdll error - how can I fix it?

After having a virus removed & deleting a couple of things in Registry to get desktop working, I now have a svchost error ntdll.dll 5.1.2600.6055 and also ntmarta.dll 5.1.2600.5512   . Also, computer wont start properly with external storage turned on (stores itunes & photos etc). Have searched net for ages but still don't know how to fix...anyone help?

Location seems to be C:\ DOCUME~1 \west\ LOCALS~ 1\ Temp \ WER3F90.dir001\svchost.exe.mdmp   &   .dir001\appcompat.txt

Answer

A:

Hi,

· What is the exact error message you are receiving?

· What is the service pack installed on the computer?

Run system file checker on the computer. Link you may refer: Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker (Sfc.exe): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310747

Note that: if it prompts for the service pack CD, follow the steps from the link: You are prompted to insert a Windows XP SP2 CD when you try to run the System File Checker tool on a Windows XP SP2-based computer: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/900910 (Holds good for Service pack 3)

Did this solve your problem?

Sorry this didn't help.
