Somehow my windows xp C:\Documents and Settings\Users\Local Settings\Temp folder keep all file inside?

Somehow my windows xp C:\Documents and Settings\Users\Local Settings\Temp folder keep all file inside that occupied almost all my computer hard drive free space.I thought it delete al the temp files or folders automatically?

My hard drive has 700MB free space suddenly dropped to 24MB

I didn't make any software and hardware change? When i turned on my computer on windows xp to pop a dialog box in the taskbar saying that my hard drive is running out of free space. After checking the problem i found out that C:\Documents and Settings\Users\Local Settings\Temp folder keep all file inside that occupied almost all my computer hard drive free space.

I thought that temp folder clean the cache file and folder automatically after certain days, can someone tell me why temp folder is storing all those files and folder that used almost all free space of my hard drive?

OP has a multitude of questions, if they are all on the same computer, they could be connected?
