Original Title:  Event ID10010
I get Event ID10010 Error. "Server did not register with DCOM within the required timeout". This occurs at about 3 minutes after switch on but not every time I switch on, it happened 12 times in the last month. Checking on the Registry indicates that it is caused by C:\Windows\System32\Wbem\wmiprvse.exe-secured. It does not appear to have any adverse effect on the computer. I have an HP Pavilion desktop running Windows XP with SP3. How can I stop it. Lengthen the allowed timeout?

Answer

A:

Hi,

·         Have you made any changes on the computer prior to the issue?

·         Is your computer connected to any domain network?

I would suggest you to reset default DCOM permissions.

How to reset the default DCOM permissions

a.       Click Start and select Run, type dcomcnfg, and press Enter.

b.      Expand Componet Services\Computers, right-click My Computer and select Properties.

c.       In the Default Distributed COM Communication Properties section of Default Properties tab, make sure that:

Default Authentication Level is set to Connect

Default Impersonation Level is set to Identify
