1. Is Roxio installed on your computer?
2. Have you made any changes to your computer prior to this issue?
3. Are you able to start your computer to desktop?
You may follow the suggestions and check.
Check if the issue exists in safe mode.
A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP
If the issue doesn’t persist in safe mode with networking, I would suggest you perform clean boot to see if any third party services are causing this issue.
Note : After you used the clean boot to resolve your problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.
a. Click Start, and then click
b. Type msconfig, and then click
The System Configuration Utility dialog box is displayed.
c. Click the General tab, click
Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services, and then click
d. When you are prompted, click
Restart to restart the computer
