Welcome to Microsoft Community and thanks for posting the question.

As per the description, you have issues with validating identity.

1. Were there any changes (hardware or software) made to the computer prior to the issue?

2. What is the make and model of the router?

3. What is the exact error related to validating identity?

Perform the steps mentioned below and see if the issue persists.

a: Double Click the offending "Validating Identity" icon in your system tray.

b: In the Following "Wireless Network Connection Status" Window click onProperties
In the Resulting "Wireless Connection Properties" Window click on the "Wireless Networks Tab." In this window then click on Properties for yourpreferred network.

d: In the next window click on the "Authentication" tab, Make sure "Enable IEEE 802.1x...." checkbox isUN-Checked, the rest of this window should be greyed out. If your network is Encrypted go on tostep f otherwise Click ok and try to connect to your network again.

e: If you receive a "Limited or No Connectivity" error for your network connection then your network is most likely encrypted and you need to repeatsteps a- c and go on to step f .

f: In this window make sure you are in the "Association" tab. You will need to enter your encryption information here in order to connect to your network. Select your encryption type from the "Network Authentication" and "Data Encryption" drop downs. Uncheck "The key is provided for me automatically" and enter and confirm yourNetwork key. Click ok to save changes and try connecting again
