Question

Q: NET USE error: "System error 67 has occured. The network name cannot be found."

Original title: NET USE error, was working

Ok I have been using the following with a XP RDP'ing into a S2k3 server for years:

net use lpt2 \\SERVERNAME\printername /persiternt:yes

now I get a "System error 67has occured. The network name cannot be found."

What got me to this state was I rebooted my XP box.

What I have done since, rebooted the network box, the hubs, the wireless router, the DSL modem and the win 2k3 box with the same results ...

suggestions?

Answer

A:

Hi cvs334, would you unplug the ethernet cable from all these devices "network box, the hubs, the wireless router, the DSL modem and the win 2k3 box" then unplug the power cord for each. Then after about 60 seconds, connect the DSL modem power cord wait for sink. Next connect the router power after sink connect the router to the modem, then connect hub and the other devices. This will allow the router to re-address the automatic DNS from the modem. The router maybe failing or the LAN port on the router could be failing.

Did this solve your problem?

Sorry this didn't help.
