Question

Q: I am getting error 554 error number 0x800CCC6F I can't send out e-mails

I am trying to send out a large number of newsletters via outlook express. I completed 80% of them but got to the last 5 and they will not go out. In fact I can no longer send any e-mails. I get

An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '554 omta12.emeryville.ca.mail.comcast.net comcast Message sending error.  Please go to http://help.comcast.net/content/faq/VBOB', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 554, Error Number: 0x800CCC6F

What can I do?

Answer

A:

#1: Servers have a limit on how many recipients you can send to at one time. You may be exceeding the limit. Try breaking it down to a few groups & contact Comcast to find out the exact number of recipients they allow.

#2: Change the SMTP port to 587 and make sure: My Server Requires Authentication is checked.

How do I set up/configure Outlook Express, Windows Mail & Windows Live Mail for Comcast email?
