windows XP printer installation error message: Print Processor does not exist

Attempting to re-install a printer (Knoica/Minolta MC-2300-DL) and installation process works okay until you click the final OK ... then, I get the error message "Unable to Install Printer.  The Print Processor does not exist."

I've used the FIX IT program and because it can't see that printer as installed, isn't able to help.

Hi cjm1219,

· What is the edition of windows installed on the computer?

· What is the service pack installed?

If you have installed Windows XP professional edition, there is a hotfix which helps you resolve the issue. The hotfix is included in Windows XP service pack 3.

Hotfix link: You cannot install a printer that uses a custom print processor in Windows Server 2003 Server or in Windows XP Professional: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/906752

To install Windows XP service pack 3 access the below link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=68C48DAD-BC34-40BE-8D85-6BB4F56F5110&displaylang=en

If you have already service pack 3 on the computer then refer: You receive an error message when you try to use the Add Printer Wizard to add a printer in Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2410007
