Mouse and keyboard stopped working in Windows XP Media Center edition

I moved my Gigabyte Media Center and on boot the mouse and keyboard suddenly stopped working. Works fine to access BIOS and F8 key to get to safe mode - which also has no mouse or keybpard functionality. So with any form of Windows I have no input control. It is not a fault with the keyboard as it works in boot up mode. Tried alternative USB mice and keyboards all to no avail. There are no PS2 ports on the machine. I've found a few examples of this fault on the web but no real answers. Seems like the windows drivers for mouse and keyboard are corrupt? But how do I get in to reinstall - machine is from now defunct Evesham, I do not have a recovery disk or serial number. Any help woudl be gratefully accepted!
