Install DVD driver

Hello,

Check the device manager for any problems. To get to the device manager and troubleshoot hardwre devices follow the instructions in the link below.

For the CD/DVD Drive, to reload the drivers, all you have to do is click on the [+] before CD/DVD Drives then right click on the each item that appears and select uninstall, once all items are uninstalled click OK. Now, all you have to do is restart the computer, Windows should automatically detect the drivers after restarting the computer.

Also, it's possible that you are just missing a codec that is why you are unable to play DVDs. In that case, try downloading and installing a DVD codec, please refer to the link below.

DVD drives use the built in Microsoft XP drivers.  You do not need to have any additional drivers.

Never rely on the "junky"  software that "reports" drivers update.  They will cause additional problems.

XP does not play movie DVDs natively.  You will need to install a MPEG DVD decorder.  Look at WinDVD or PowerDVD.
