BSOD nv4-disp display driver

Windows XP BSOD with nv4-disp. display drive...device driver got stuck in an infinte loop...problem w/device or driver programming.  I have downloaded
 driver updates from Dell, but continue to get this message.  Any ideas other than reinstalling XP would be appreciated.

Hi Toni,

 

Have you made any recent hardware or software changes on the system?

 

Uninstall and reinstall the drivers for your graphics card and check if it fixes the problem.

a. Right-click My Computer, click Properties, click theHardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
b. From the list of devices, click on Display Adapter.
c. Double click the device name and then right click and select properties.
d. On the Driver tab, click on Uninstall.
d. Restart the computer.
e. Open device Manager again select Display Adapter.
f. Right click and select Update driver.
