Q: Why won't my computer let me go to google? This thread is locked from future replies

Whenever I try to go  to  Google, I get 404not found. I used to be able to go to Google. Now I can't.

How are you getting to Google?  Try typing "" in the address window of your browser.  If you're still getting the same error, it could be due to malware that has altered your "hosts" file.  Examine your "hosts" file with a text editor such as Notepad.  The hosts file is usually located at C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts.

A default hosts file will have only one line that does not begin with a "#" character and that should be the line:   localhost

If you have other lines in this file, you should clean out your hosts file.

"How can I reset the Hosts file back to the default?"
