My computer will not sync offline files at log off.

It appears i have about 2000+ files that have not sync'd to our shared drive at work. I have am not an experienced user and only have tried what the OS has shown me. What else can i try besides the basic things XP professional tells me too?  Most of these files are images and music files, however there are some much more important ones too, and since in the Temp folder the files are placed will not allow me to open them it is unclear if i can just delete them. If anyone can push me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
