Transparent desktop icons

I recently removed a hijack program from my computer (ran Malwarebytes), but the hijack program had made my desktop icons and folders "hidden".  If I enable the "Show hidden files and folders", I can see them, but my dekstop icons look transparent. When  I try to do a System Restore, it allows me to select a previous date to restore to, but nothing happens after I click Next.  What is wrong with my computer?
