KB 2884256 update problems continue

I've seen reading these forums and trying everything recommended to no avail.  the update always fails during configuration. i decided to call ms support and have had two tech help people try everything they knew to do and have now been passed to a level two expert for tomorrow.  each phone call lasted four hours. when i hopped on my pc this morning, i have no control  of my keyboard, mouse, and all other usb items (even after unplugging/plugging in the devices).  this is getting frustrating.  i just want to be able to use  my pc again and not have to try and do work from my phone.  any ideas on simply getting my keyboard and mouse to work before tomorrow?  thanks for any help

todd

I take it that at least one of those techs had you uninstall the USB Root Hubs using Device Manager?  When you restart your computer it should reinstall all your USB devices.

I have two updates that always fail installation: KB2884256 and KB2862335   I was able to install all the other pending updates a few at a time until I got down to those two.  It seems like the problem was corrected in the past by uninstalling the USB Root Hubs and then performing a SHUTDOWN.  Performing a restart would not work.

I see that you posted your question back in October 2013.  Did you ever get the problem resolved?

Just so you know this computer originally had Windows Vista and was Upgraded to Windows 7 32bit.  Also, it fails sfc /scannow when running cmd.exe as administrator.  chkdsk c: /f was also run on this computer.

It just keeps trying to install the updates every time you shutdown the computer or turn it on.  When you turn it on it states that the update failed and it is reverting the changes and then it attempts to install the next update.  It does that for each update that fails to install.  Currently there are three updates that repeatedly fail to install. I was able to successfully install all other updatesl one at a time except these three:

Security Update for Windows 7 (KB2862330)

Oct 2014-----I am still not able to install KB2884256  on my Vista machine.  After multiple attempts to resolve back last year I finally gave up on MS support and "hide" the update.

I tried to install Feb and Apr this year installing the monthly batch of Windows Updates, hoping the issue would resolve itself.... no luck.

Tried again today Oct 27, 2014, no change in behavior that I can discern, had time today to searched  Knowledge Base and found your entry.  Under Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers....   there are 5 of instances of "USB Root Hub".   I do not remember if any of the level 1 support people have tried to delete a USB Root Hub in the course of their fumbling around back in Oct of 2013.

BTW: I noticed under Device Manager>Network Adapters, a long list of Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface instances that have failed with "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".   Under Properties clicked on the "Check for solutions..." button under Properties>General tab with nothing returnd.
