During software install on 64-bit Vista or Windows 7 Installshield error 1935 followed by Installshield error 1603

I am stuck. I have 3 people I am trying to help all who are on 64-bit Vista or Windows 7 trying to install our software. (I am trying to figure out if there are other similarities between their computers beyond the 64-bit part.)

They get Installshield error 1935 followed by Installshield error 1603 each time.

The installation doesn't have anything to do with .NET.

Consumer.installshield.com seems to have removed their solution to 1603.

Does anyone have any tips on what I should try to get the software installed?

Thanks!

-Andrea

Hi Andrea,

Let’s try these steps & check if it helps.

Method 1

I.    a) If you have Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64) installed, you may uninstall it by using Windows Cleanup Utility.

Download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility from this link.

            i. Now run the utility ("Start > All programs > Windows Install Cleanup").
ii.In the list of programs that appear in Cleanup, select the programs, and click ‘Remove’.
            ii.Quit out of Cleanup.

           b) You may also remove the software from Programs & Features.

II.       Download & install the software from this link.

            Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64)

III.    Then try installing the InstallShield software & check.

Method 2

If the downloaded file has .msi extension, you may also extract the file and then try installing the software from the setup.exe file and check.

Hope the information helps. Please post back and let us know.

Dear Debleena,

I now have 4 people with the 1935/1603 combo message. Only one has written me back so far. She is on:

Dell Inspiron 545S running Windows 7 Home Premium with Norton Anti-virus

She ran the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, tried the redistributable, and got the 1935 on the redistributable file.

Do you have any suggestions?

Best wishes,

Andrea

Hi Andrea,

Thank you for replying.

Step 1
You may perform clean boot and then try to install the softwares. Clean boot will start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs and helps to eliminate software conflicts.

Note: Please ensure that the computer is set to start as usual by following the step 7 from the article: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows7:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.

Step 2
A) Download & install the software from this link.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64)

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=ba9257ca-337f-4b40-8c14- 157cfdffee4e&displaylang=en

B) Then try installing the InstallShield software & check.

Hope the information helps. Please post back and let us know.

I am sorry to say that these steps haven’t worked for any of our users yet. There are 6 with this problem now. None of them can install the redistributables Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) or Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) without encountering an error 1935. Several of them also cannot install Windows Updates, encountering an errors when they try. One receives error numbers 8007371B and 643 when trying to install Windows updates.

The HRESULT codes of the people encountering 1935 errors are:

0x8007371B

0x80070BC9

0x80070424

What should we have them try next, please? Thank you for your continued help with this problem!

Best wishes,

Andrea

Hello Andrea333,

I have seen these errors 1935 and 1603 happen when AdAware is installed. Some users have had success installing when disabling AdAware first and then trying to install. You might also try to disable your antivirus and try again.

Then try and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) or Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) .

Please reply back with an update.

Thanks,

Marilyn,

I've got the same issue as Andrea does. The only problem is that I still get the same error when I try to install the VC2008 Redist or VC2005 Redist pack.

I am running a fresh installation of Windows 7 Ultimate, with only Google Chrome and some drivers installed, but nothing else, so AdAware or any other peace of software can't be the issue.

I get the 1935 error with the 0x80070BC9 result. This occurs for me when installing the Redist pack's, but also when I'm trying to install MS Office Professional Plus 2010.

Cheers,
Tom Maaswinkel

Andrea,

I just found this MS KB article describing the same error during a MS Office 2007 installation (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926804/en). The article says "This issue may occur when the Microsoft .NET Framework installation on the computer is damaged or is missing.".

Now does MS Win 7 Ultimate install the .NET Framework v3.5.1 already, but maybe this solves your issues...

Ok, so I just installed the .NET Framework v4 and this solved my issue. So it seems it all has to do with the .NET Framework!
