DeskPDF took over my Word Documents

I have Vista Home Basic and use Word in Windows 2003.  The other day I downloaded DeskPDF so I could change my Word documents into PDFs.  As I did not pay to register the DeskPDF it did not work.  Now when I look at file folders I see that all the documents I saved as Word documents have all converted to DeskPDF documents. What happened and how do I remedy it?  Thank you.
