Vista Service Pack 1

I have been trying to load the Vista Service Pack 1 for several years with no luck.  I am running Vista Home Premium on a Gateway GM5442, and I have loaded all of the updates as they became available.  But now I cannot load IE9 or the Window 7 or 8 upgrades since the Service Pack 1 didn't load  Has anyone else had this problem, and if yes, how did you solve it.  I've tried numerous Microsoft error correction procedures with no luck over the last two years.

Answer

Hi,

Click Start > right click Computer > left click Properties > see if you have Vista 32bit or Vista 64bit installed.

Then choose the correct "bit" download to use to install the Service Packs, installing SP1 first.

Vista SP1 32bit (x86): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30

Vista SP1 64bit: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21299

Vista SP2 32bit (x86): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=16468

Vista SP2 64bit: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17669

And if you have any problems:

There is a Forum that Microsoft has set up for problems with Vista Service Packs. If you repost at the Forum they will certainly try to assist you there..

Cheers.
