My last computer blew the motherboard and I have purchased a used laptop with windows XP.

I would like to upgrade to the Windows Vista that I had on my computer that blew up...Am I allowed to do this?

If Vista came preinstalled on your Computer, it is classified as an OEM licence, and is non-transferable.


The OEM Vista Licence is tied to the original Computer it is installed on, and dies with the Computer.
You can NOT transfer it to another Computer/Laptop

If a Retail Vista Licence, you may transfer it to another Computer/Laptop.
But, it may only be installed on one Computer at a time.

 

One Licence = One Installation.
