Cannot install update for KB938371 Error Code 800B0100?
I have tried to install this update for two days. I have followed the Support links given and searched Answers. I have followed the recommendations and run the SUR diagnostics and done all the repairs suggested, but to no avail. This is the error I have
Update for Windows Vista (KB938371)
Installation date: 9/18/2012 7:51 PM
Installation status: Failed
Error details: Code 800B0100
Update type: Important
Install this update to enable future updates to install successfully on all editions of Windows Vista. This update may be required before selected future updates can be installed. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer. Once
you have installed this item, it cannot be removed.
Are you able to install other updates successfully?
I would suggest you to follow these methods and check.
Method 1: Disable antivirus application and try to download and install the update.
Important Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software,
you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Method 2: Perform clean boot and try to install updates.
I have decided to take the gentler, simpler path to the solution. I have given MS Help Desk $99 to get a copy of a Windows 7 Professional installation ISO file download. I even get a 30-day money-back guarantee. Plus a 60-day guarantee on the problem
solution. Well, considering that I only paid $110 for the Windows 7 Student Edition Upgrade CD 12 months ago, I think I get the full install DVD for $209. Not a bad deal considering that I saved myself a lot of time and trouble getting my Windows Backup image
file restored. Every cloud has a silver lining and I am walking in sunshine again.
Did this solve your problem?
Sorry this didn't help.
Great! Thanks for marking this as the answer.
