Norton Antivirus 2012 Serious Problem!!

Hi everyone, actually my problem is very similar to PeterB23's post but different in some ways. Let me try to explain what happened when i tried to install Norton Antivirus 2012.

As usual i put the Norton CD to my Cd-rom drive and started the installation process. The wizard spotted the previous version of Norton (which was Norton 360 w/expired product key) and started uninstalling that one.

After rebooting the CD-Rom Drive option dissappeared from My Computer window. So it became impossible for the installation process to continue. I tried updating the driver of cd-rom but non-sense.. I tried a system restore, after that the CD-Rom became visible and i was able to complete the installation process of Norton Antivirus 2012, but i spotted that %95 of my Program files had gone/dissappeared (the shortcuts were there though)!!! There is a No Name Folder in My Computer window which i cant access..The worse thing was my Outlook (my heart of business) was not working!!

What i did after that disaster, was to rollback the system restore process. The first thing that i've checked was no name folder and i am relieved it dissapperared, However now i am in a point where my cd-rom is not visible, my outlook is barely working (though i can send/recieve hotmail and can send google mail, i cannot recieve any google mail,), my internet explorer is constantly trying to rollback some adobe plug-ins in each start-up..

I am recently in a stiuation where i am afraid to check the other programs, whether they are working properly or not..

Hi,

I am sorry but we have no idea who PeterB23 is.

These Forums go worldwide.

And this is the Vista Operating System Installation Forum.

Did you contact Symantec (Norton) Support as the problems are happening with their product?

Cheers.

Download and save the Norton Removal Tool

Disconnect form the internet

Uninstall Norton  from the Programs listing, then reboot.

run the Removal Tool

Reboot

Then you should be able to reinstall Norton (if you must!) or any other AV you require, without a problem.

reconnect, and update Norton - run a Full System Scan.

I would suggest that you also run a full scan with the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (www.malwarebytes.org )
