event log and gusvc error

I have had the "blue screen"  and system freeze when it is in sleep mode. I have run System Restore, regcure, and scan of all hardware for virus, etc.
The last event gave the source as "gusvc" and the details as follows:

"The description of the event ID 0 from source gusvc cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer."

Where do I head?? I am trying to avoid replacing my hard disk (been moving data to external drives all along).

Hi joanjps,

Thanks for using the Answers Forum.

"gusvc" is the Google update service. I suggest re-installing/updating your Google product to resolve this issue.

If your using Google Earth, you may want to check the minimum hardware requirements for usage, as it is resource intensive.

I also suggest updating your video card driver by visiting the manufacturers website and searching for the latest driver release.

Hope this helps.
