How to play .m3u file types in Windows Media Player 11.

My windows media player 11 will not allow me to play .m3u file types. I would like to know how to fix this issue. I know windows media player 11 is supposed to support the file type so I am a bit confused. Any help would be useful, thanks.

Hi AJROCKSLIFE,

1. Are you getting any error message when you try playing the file?

2. Are you able to play any .mp3 files properly?
3. Have you installed a codec to play the file?

I would suggest you to check if you are able to play any other m3u or mp3 files and the issue lies with only one particular file.

The file is listed as compatible to play with Windows Media Player 11. You may try playing a sample mp3 file from the below provided article and check -

Also it is possible that you are missing the codec to play the file or it is clashing with some other codec files. You may remove the other codecs installed and then try playing the file only using the codec required to play the .m3u file.
Refer to the below link for further details -

Hope this helps.
