Q: Error message C00D119A

I used to be able to play avi files with WMP but sinmce upgrading to Vista I cannot play them, I get the error message "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or a required codec might not be installed on your computer". I have downloaded all the updates and tried to use VLC but with no success.

We get this error message if a required codec is not installed on your computer. A codec is a software that the player uses to decompress a file before playing it. Audio content or video content that is compressed with a wide variety of codec can be stored in an .avi file and played in Windows Media Player, if the appropriate codec are installed on the computer. Video codec that are frequently used in .avi files include the following codec:

  • DivX codec

Try to download and install the DivX codec pack from the link given below:
