popup from 000webhost.com

When working on my husbands Wordpress web page, I now get a popup from 000.webhost.com all the time, it prevents me from working on the site i.e uploading photo's etc.  I am not registered with them either.

I emailed them and they suggested that I log in and cancel, but not able to do this as I am not registered???

Have they planted a cookie in my system?

They are no help to me at all and I am not a techie, so any helpful info would have to be in easy layman terms !

best regards.........Jan

 000webhost.com: Manage analytics code for your website

We insert a small piece of JavaScript code to your website in order to monitor if account active or not. Analytics code is also used to build stats and visitors report for your website. By disabling analytics code you will also loose an ability to get stats for your website.

in .htaccess try putting:

# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>
# END WordPress

I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

Why would they want to insert a small piece of JavaScript code to your website in order to monitor if account active or not. Analytics code is also used to build stats and visitors report for your website when I have not got an account or registered with them.

Just do not want this popup preventing us working on website

thanks

So are you saying that when using Wordpress web page if I log onto the 000.webhost.com via the popup it will manage stats and visitors reports, also it will see if the account is active or not?

How can it install the Javascript code when I have not allowed it.

There is NO account.

How dare they mess around with our web page???

best regards

Jan

Hi Folks,

This is a marketing strategy of 000webhost.com. Afterall, it is difficult to manage high end servers for free. Do not panic, just follow these easy steps to remove it. Keep in mind that you would have to do this step atleast once per two weeks to keep the pop-up away.
