Q: PING: transmit failed, error code 5.

Hi chris,

i have also similar problem like that.  my network connection is ok & its working fine but i am not able to ping  giving following error

C:\>ping 192.168.1.25

Pinging 192.168.1.25 with 32 bytes of data:
PING: transmit failed, error code 5.
PING: transmit failed, error code 5.
PING: transmit failed, error code 5.
PING: transmit failed, error code 5.

Ping statistics for 10.22.22.1:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

C:\>

And network connection showing unplug

showing error :- Connection stetus : unknown "the dependency service or group failed to start"


when i going to start "network location awareness" serivece giving error 1073741288.

In all this condition i able to surf network smoothly. but not able to ping % local area connection showing unplug on taskbar.


Please help me out from this problem..

Hello Swapnil,

Thank you for posting your question to the Micrsoft Answers Forum.

I am not exactly sure of the issue as your question was split from the previous thread.

What are you trying to ping? Another computer on your network? Are you in a domain environment?
Are all of the computers in your network, Windows Vista, or Windows XP?

One thing you can check it to go into the registry.

1. Open Start Menu >> Run and type regedit and press Enter key

2. Navigate to the following path
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Lsa
3. Locate the key restrictanonymous

4. Double click the key, set the value to 0 and press OK
5. Exit Registry and restart your computer for changes to come into effect.

Please reply back and let us know if this helps with your error.
